Blackberries have always been mundane, utilitarian business devices with little to no appeal for young people. They’re more of a badge of adulthood; receiving one means your dreams of youth have been squashed and you’re locked into a cubicle calculating expense reports. RIM may be trying to change that image. Check out these concept pics of a possible Blackbery 9000 series device with a slideout keyboard, a-la Sidekick fame. There’s also a rumored optical touchscreen which RIM has supposedly been developing for a while. If they emblazoned these with plastic diamonds and anime stickers the kids might just eat these up.

Rim-BlackBerry

Following its release of beta version BlackBerry Media Sync for Mac, Research In Motion (RIM) has announced the plans to release a new version of its BlackBerry Desktop Manager software for Mac OS X operating system this September. No doubt, Blackberry is the top choice for most IT professional and especially the corporate employees. Until now the PC running Windows could sync content with BlackBerry. Only some third-party app like Missing Sync are available to sync BlackBerry with the Mac. With the new app released the Mac buffs would have a better tool to communicate with BlackBerry phones. Well, there's much to detailed about the new app, for now we've just got the glimpses of its features for you.

Nokia E71

Nokia E71, E66 Drop BlackBerry Connect

Nokia has confirmed it has dropped the BlackBerry Connect application from its E71 and E66 smartphones.

Finland’s Nokia has had a tough time getting its smartphone products into the hands of North American customers…and their pitch is getting even more difficult with news that the company has pulled the BlackBerry Connect application from its E71 and E66 smartphones, meaning customers won’t be able to use the units to connect to BlackBerry-enabled corporate and organization email systems. Nokia cites RIM as a competitor, and positions the decision as a way to let customers choose what email solution they want…although, by eliminating the application entirely, Nokia is really asking customers to make a decision about what phone they want.

The Nokia E71 has a full QWERTY keyboard, microSD storage, a 2.4-inch LCD display, and offers HSDPA and GSM connectivity, along with an integrated GPS, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a video-capable camera. The E71 can connect to Nokia’s Ovi services like Nokia Maps and Share on Ovi; the phone can also connect to Exchange-based email services, along with consumer email services like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail. The E71 debuted in the U.S. today at Nokia’s flagship New York store for about $500. The E66 has many of the same features, but omits the QWERTY keyboard in favor of a sliding design. Like Nokia’s other high-end offerings in the U.S., the company hasn’t hooked up with a mobile carrier partner, so E71 buyers will need to strike their own deals (most likely with AT&T) to use the device.

Nokia E62

The Nokia E62 is a smartphone now being offered by Cingular Wireless in the U.S.

The E62 is close in design to the Nokia E61 that's sold in Europe, but with a few key differences.

The E61 has support for the European 3G networks, while the E62 does not support any 3G.

The E61 has Wi-Fi, while the E62 doesn't. On the brighter side, the E62 dispenses with the proprietary Nokia "Pop Port"
for audio and USB, substituting standard mini-USB and 2.5mm audio connectors. Otherwise, the devices are identical in design and specs.

BlackBerry 8705

Apparently, pictures of the BlackBerry 8705 have begun to meander their way around the World Wide Web.

As best as we can figure, the BlackBerry 8705 is simply a normal BlackBerry 8700 except with HAC (Hearing Aid Capability). There is also a minor GSM radio and some component changes. There was a lot of buzz that the BlackBerry 8705 would have some Wi-Fi capability, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The BlackBerry 8700 is able to play MP3s, Bluetooth capability, along with Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology. The 8700c does promise web-browsing, if it is Wi-Fi you want, then this is gadget for you.
